My name is Kimberly Wilson, the calligrapher behind Cotton & Grey. I am a lover of small moments and beautiful details. I believe in creating beauty where you can and celebrating the things that bring us, and others, joy!

I have always been in love with stationary and pretty words. Doodling names on my notebooks, (anyone else pretend they were Mrs. Pacey Whitter?), lettering quotes for English class, and I do believe I was the only person I know who still sent her mama snail mail every week while in college.

Born and raised in the south has instilled a sense of tradition and nostalgia in me, as well as love for sweet tea, the smell of honeysuckle, and Georgia football (Go Dawgs!).

I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Georgia Southern University and worked full-time as a designer, in a corporate cubicle, since 2007. Designing on a computer screen eight hours a day for the past decade, I turned to calligraphy as a way to reconnect with my creativity and work created by hand. It’s is an art form that communicates thoughtfulness. It takes time, it slows things down. And in a world where instant gratification and information overload is the norm, it’s almost rebellious to slow down and take your time with charming details.

I come from a family of makers. My nanny quilted and cooked, my mama gardened and sewed (if there was a pattern in the pages of Better Homes and Gardens, she made it), and my daddy is a renaissance man, able to create and build whatever he puts his mind to. All of them are apart of me, and I grew up understanding the importance of effort. The value of handcrafted. The appreciation for family heirlooms

If I can help you create thoughtful treasures for your wedding day or event, I'm happy to do so. In fact, it would make me giddy! I'd love to chat and get to know you a bit!
